In this example, Beacon conducted a needs-based segmentation with data derived from a MaxDiff conjoint analysis for a major CAD software supplier. Respondents are grouped into three different segments based on different levels of utility each of these groups places on selection attributes. Respondents in Segment 1 value "mature" tools above all else, while Segment 2 respondents care far less about maturity of their design tools but far more about functionality and what can be done with the tools.
